Final Report – Feb. 28, 2009

Final Outcomes

This project is really at a mid-point rather than concluding phase.  The contact person for the project is now on a medical leave of absence, following an illness that contributed to a slow-down on this project.  However, we have accomplished the following in terms of implementation:

·         Conducted strategic review—worked with project members, staff and clients to define the objectives of our web site initiative.

·         Defined specifications and solicited bids for project design and development.  The bids are due next week, March 5th.

Prior to our celebration on April 4th, we anticipate accomplishing the following:

·         Project leaders will work with the selected web site developers on a cycle of design-builds and reviews.

·         A plan for content integration, management and maintenance will be developed

·         A design prototype will be ready to share at the celebration.

By May 15th, we will “go live” with the website.  The launch will include local publicity and materials distributed to clients and customers.  The feedback and evaluation loop will begin at launch and go on indefinitely.  Specifically, we will measure numbers of users and where users are going on the web, and we will survey staff regarding efficiencies gained in their work and lessons learned regarding the use of website in disseminating and collecting information vital to our work.

Key Questions

I propose answering these questions in writing at the celebration event.  At this point, we are very excited about what we’ve learned regarding the potential for the website.  More clients and customers than we thought have web access and would use it to communicate with us.  And, our staff have generated some great ideas for improving our programs, such as creating a social networking site along with the website for our YouthBuild members.
