The Alliance inspires leadership by example. Those who participate in Alliance-led projects learn how to facilitate meetings, develop agendas, conduct surveys and network with other leaders.
"The Alliance incorporates leadership roles into all of our projects," explains Marcel Fortin, Executive Director. "We don't provide specific leadership development training, but use the structure of our teams and their respective leaders to expand their membership and assign roles/duties. The leaders learn to ask each member to
contribute to the project and take responsibility for its success. Project leaders provide the local role models for others to learn from and emulate."
In addition, the Alliance and its staff lead by example to provide a hands-on, proactive method of making all team members leaders in their own right. Members mentor emerging community leaders in structuring projects, developing budgets, writing grant applications, organizing volunteers, writing reports and other important leadership skills.
